Graduate Certificate in Additive Manufacturing

Objective

The Graduate Certificate (GC) in Additive Manufacturing offers a comprehensive coverage of topics that are of great relevance to the local manufacturing industry, including precision, aerospace and biomedical engineering; these topics span the processes and material design to challenges that are faced by the industry in adopting and developing related AM technologies.

The modules offered in this GC Programme will enhance the knowledge and expertise of the engineers and prepare them for new challenges in the AM related industry.

Application Criteria

Any Bachelor degree holders, in particular B.Eng. (Mechanical Engineering) degree and B.Eng. (Materials Science and Engineering), or equivalent.

(For effective learning, applicants are expected to have sufficient standard of written and spoken English.)

Candidature Period and Duration

Maximum period of candidature is 2 years.

Award of Graduate Certificate

Upon successful completion of 12 MCs with a Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of at least 2.50 out of 5 will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Additive Manufacturing.

Per Module Contact Hours

The contact hours for a 2-MC module will be between 18 – 20 hours in total, which include lectures, projects and discussions, and assessments.

Mode of Delivery

Classes will be either in short-course format over 3 to 4 days period or comprise evening classes and/or those conducted on the weekend over a longer duration.

Assessment and Grades

Modes of assessment comprise quizzes / term papers, in-class participation, final assessment / presentation, projects with emphasis on practical aspects of Additive Manufacturing.

Requirements for Credit Transfers to Master of Science (M.Sc.)

The stacking of GC modules (for module(s) with grade B or higher is allowed) to the M.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) programme will be subjected to SSG funding rule and the approval from the host department.

  1. Academic Modules taken on an Audit Basis are not be eligible for SSG funding.
  2. SSG will only fund a module once for each eligible trainee and in the event you have to retake a module, you will not be eligible for SSG funding again.
