The basis for human brain activity monitoring:
The neuronal activities of the brain generate an electric field and a magnetic field of the brain. A current source Q in a neuron causes a current I flowing within the brain, producing an electric potential difference V on the scalp S, which can be measured and shown by electroencephalography (EEG), and a magnetic field B around the brain, which can be measured and shown by magnetoencephalography (MEG).
